Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says there is an ongoing investigation in relation to the former CEO of Fiji Sugar Corporation however it would not be prudent for him to release further information as it might compromise the investigation.
Bainimarama made this comment after National Federation Party Leader Professor Biman Prasad asked Bainimarama in parliament whether an investigation, that was announced by the Sugar Permanent Secretary, was conducted on the former CEO of FSC.
The Prime Minister also said that the question should have been disqualified under the Standing Orders by the Parliamentary Business Committee as it seeks to question the character and conduct of a person, seeks confidential information and seeks to confirm the accuracy of the statement in the press.
Speaker Ratu Epeli Nailatikau ruled that the question was sufficiently answered as the investigation was ongoing however SODELPA MP, Niko Nawaikula continued to question why there has been a delay.
