Villages of Cuvu, nearby villages and hotels will no longer travel to Sigatoka Hospital for minor injuries or health clinics after their new Health Centre was opened this morning.
While opening the new Health Centre, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama said that this week is a health week for the women in the Province of Nadroga/Navosa.
The new health facility which is worth $1.3 million will now benefit thousands of people who are living close to Cuvu.
Bainimarama said he is deeply concerned about the general health of some sections of our population in Fiji.
He added that far too many instances of our loved ones having their health destroyed and losing their lives far too early through Non-Communicable Diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease.
Meanwhile yesterday, Bainimarama opened the new Sigatoka Hospital Maternity Unit which will cater for about one hundred babies and mothersr in a month and who will use the antenatal facility to prepare for their big days.
