The growing role of the European Commission in Fiji’s socio‑economic development was the main subject of discussion when the Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama met with the Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development Neven Mimica.
During the meeting, Bainimarama commended the European Union’s commitment to reduce carbon emissions by 40 percent by 2030.
He also called for support in the lead up to the climate change talks in Paris.
In a separate meeting with the Co‑President of the ACP‑EU joint parliamentary assembly, Bainimarama highlighted the need to strengthen partnerships in sugar, fisheries and forests.
Bainimarama is currently in Brussels for the ACP/EU talks.
