Prime Minister and President of COP 23 Voreqe Bainimarama is in Berlin, Germany participating in the 9th Petersberg Climate Dialogue.
The different sessions of the dialogue will weigh in the pros and cons of climate action such as the impact of delaying the climate action, transitioning into the goals set by the agreement and the other related issues like climate finance.
Bainimarama is expected to make interventions during the two day meeting which ends today where discussions will mainly focus on the implementation of the Paris Agreement and the way forward.
The dialogue has been organised by the German Federation Environment Ministry and the Government of the Republic of Poland who are the incoming presidency of COP24.
The meeting is being attended by ministers and representatives from 35 countries as they are looking into the implementation of the Paris Agreement and preparatory works for the next Climate Change Conference, which will take place in December in Katowice under Poland’s Presidency.
The Prime Minister is joined by his Permanent Secretary Yogesh Karan, the Chief Negotiator Luke Daunivalu and Climate Ambassador and Head of Mission to the European Union, Deo Saran.
