Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama held a bilateral meeting with the President of the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly, María Fernanda Espinosa Garcés.
Bainimarama is in New York attending the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Bainimarama requested Garces for a UN that is fit for purpose, agile, responsive and most importantly understanding the needs of small islands developing states on the front line of climate change.
The Prime Minister said Fiji is steadfast in its support for multilateralism and added that countries needed to work together to solve challenges such as climate change, oceans management and global peace and security.
