Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has congratulated Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison on his re-election.

In a Facebook post, Bainimarama says it brings him immense encouragement to know that, with Morrison’s remarkable victory, their historic bilateral meeting in January was just the start of a momentous new partnership for the Pacific.

Bainimarama says with the ‘vuvale’ reset, they have aligned their foreign policies to better reflect not only their shared national interests, but also the deep values that bond the Fijian and Australian peoples.

Bainimarama says Fiji is looking forward to the months and years ahead with both great hope and bated anticipation.

Bainimarama says in Australia, Morrison has defied all expectations adding they should take the same underdog attitude that inspired Morrison’s  parliamentary victory to the global fight against climate change.

The Prime Minister says by working closely together, they can turn the tides in this battle – the most urgent crisis facing not only the Pacific, but the world.

He says together, they can ensure that they are earthly stewards of Fiji, Australia, and the ocean that unites us adding together, they can pass down a planet that our children are proud to inherit.
