Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama has called on leaders of industrialized nations attending the Climate Change Conference in Paris to take decisive action to reduce carbon emissions.
Speaking in Paris earlier today, Bainimarama says the leaders should be part of the Coalition of Action.
Bainimarama says he brings an SOS call from the Pacific for the international community to act now.
The Prime Minister also gave examples to world leaders on how some of the Pacific island countries are affected by climate change.
Bainimarama says the countries are also vulnerable to the extreme weather events accompanying climate change.
He says as the world presently experiences the worst El Nino phenomena on record, Fiji and the Western Pacific is experiencing severe drought that is destroying its agriculture base and with it the livelihoods of many in the western parts of Fiji.
