Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has again asked all the countries to come together and help the vulnerable countries such as Fiji from climate change.

While giving his opening statement during the 8th Petersberg Climate Dialogue, Bainimarama says that Fiji would not be able to give voice to the most vulnerable as president of this process without the help of Germany.

He says that it is a partnership rooted in the firm belief of both our nations that the fates of the developed and developing world are inter-connected.

The Prime Minister says that we are all in the same canoe together and the sooner that idea takes root around the world, the sooner we can provide hope and security for our own children and succeeding generations.

He stresses that Fiji’s Presidency for COP 23 is not about finger pointing and laying blame.

He adds that it is about genuinely listening to each other, learning from each other, sharing stories, skills and experiences.

Bainimarama hopes that through this dialogue Pacific process called Talanoa will help us all work together on solutions .

While speaking to senior representatives of different countries Bainimarama says that a large part of his mission as an incoming president is to ensure that he brings together governments at every level and the people they govern, whether it is the private sector, civil society or ordinary men and women across the world.

He says Fiji will be president for everyone, and a particular interest is in our oceans and seas because they are our lifeblood.

Bainimarama has also acknowledged the German Government for their assistance, companionship and solidarity of those at the 8th Petersberg Climate Dialogue to seek solutions by working together.
