PM Bainimarama urges civil servants to continue to achieve their standards

“Oil the Government machine so that we all work better together and provide the Fijian people with the best possible service and return on their taxes.”

Those were the words of Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama at the 2014 Service Excellence Awards for the civil servants last night.

The 2014 Prime Minister’s award was awarded to the Fiji Corrections Services and the Fiji Islands Revenue and Customs Authority.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama while congratulating the winners said that he wanted everyone in the civil service to achieve the standards that has been set.

He also said he wants the Fijian civil service to get a reputation from being the best in the Pacific region and one of the best in the world.

Bainimarama also told the civil servants that if they are doing their job well, they have nothing to fear.

He said the Government is going to work with civil servants to make some changes so that they can do their job better.

He highlighted they will ensure to improve standards of efficiency and service delivery, streamline certain operations and cut down on red tape.

The Service Excellence Commitment Awards was taken by the Fiji Sports Council, Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development and National Disaster Management and the Ministry of Justice.

13 Ministries were awarded with the 2014 Service Excellence Achievement Award while 15 Ministries received the Service Excellence Prize Award.

The Green team of the year was awarded to the Ministry of I-Taukei Affairs.
