The People’s Community Network is waiting to receive $9 million which was promised to them by the Government to start with the construction of 76 new units at Lagilagi Housing.
PCN’s Chairman Father Kevin Barr said work on the 76 units will either be delayed or will come to a halt if they do not receive the remaining funds from the government.
He said the government provided $3 million for the first set of 77 housing units last year and the commencement of phase 2.
Father Barr said they signed an agreement with the Ministry of Finance last year to receive $12 million assistance.
He confirmed that funds they receive from the Jittu tenants who have already occupied the new units is insufficient to help complete the next phase of the project.
He added the 76 units is expected to cost approximately $9 million and is planned to be completed by next year.
The Jittu residents who have an account with PCN are required to save $40 a week for the two bedroom unit and $50 a week if they want a three bedroom unit.
