The Public Accounts Committee has agreed to present a motion in parliament to address the failure of the Ministry of Finance to properly monitor and implement the recommendations by the Auditor General.
Government Whip, Semi Koroilavesau said in the next business committee meeting they will call a motion for the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, Biman Prasad to present a statement in parliament and address the issue.
Koroilavesau said they will try and address the issue immediately because they cannot allow similar issues this year.
The Chief Accountant of the Ministry of Finance, Necani Lagicere told the committee today that they have been facing such problems because they lack resources.
He said they have plans in the pipeline to establish a monitoring unit which will help solve the problem.
