Two men are in custody after Police uprooted more than a thousand plants believed to be marijuana from their farms in Kadavu.
The raids were conducted at farms located at Lagalevu and Waisalima.
Intelligence gathered by Police in the Southern Division and assistance from villagers contributed to the success of the raids, as information continues to be received on the alleged cultivation of the illicit drug on Kadavu.

Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho says his message to those involved in the drug trade is that ‘we will get you’.
Qiliho says they will treat all information and tips with the highest level of confidentiality and members of the public should not fear coming forward, as any officer who gives out information will be dealt with accordingly.

He says they have been collecting information on those involved in the drug trade for quite some time and now their focus is on bringing them to justice, because he cannot allow innocent people and families to be impacted.
Qiliho says government has provided them with the resources that have drastically increased mobility on land and out at sea and so if it means deploying their boats to Kadavu with resources and personnel on a weekly basis to reduce and curb the cultivation of marijuana then they will do so.
