More than $50 million has been used through the Access Quality Education Program(AQEP) to improve the standards of rural and remote schools in Fiji.
Australian Development Cooperation Counsellor to Fiji, Joanne Choe says that with the current initiative with the Ministry of Education, 20% of primary schools across Fiji are under their focus for improvements.
The Access Quality Education Program is a six year program and they have already entered in their fifth term.
She says these initiatives will bring about changes into the lives of people living in the interior of Fiji.
The initiative includes upgrading classrooms, teachers’ quarters, offices and libraries.
Meanwhile, the AQEP is focusing on spending $90 million for the program.
