More than 500 people of Namata and Matadawa village in Tailevu are now benefitting from the new 1.3 kilometre access road constructed by the Fiji Roads Authority.
FRA Acting Chief Executive Officer Robert Sen says the access to Matadawa Village is in Tailevu province, approximately 1 kilometre along Namata Road from the end of Raralevu Road.
Sen says they believe that this new access road will significantly impact their quality of life by providing better transportation as well as improve their livelihood opportunities where the villagers will no longer need to travel by sea.
He says the project was completed within three months.
Meanwhile, works on the Natila Access Road is currently in progress and works on the Sawanikula Road will start by the end of this month.
