Over 4% growth expected this year for Fiji economy

Fiji’s economic growth for this year is expected to be over four percent.

Reserve Bank of Fiji Governor Barry Whiteside 732628said the forecast for last year and this year was just over four percent however it could be a bit better.

He said RBF is expected to release latest figures on the Fijian economy to the Finance Minister next week.

He added a lot of this growth is due to the level of investment in the country.

Finance Minister and Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said they believe figures speak for itself as the economy is doing well.

Sayed-Khaiyum said the fact that the Reserve Bank is focused, has meant that the integrity of the financial system in Fiji is very much intact and remains quite reputable.

The Reserve Bank of Fiji presented a cheque of over $35 million to the Attorney General and Finance Minister yesterday.

This is RBF’s profit from 2014.
