More than 200 people took part in the five-kilometer Dash for Diabetes that started at Buckhurst Park in Suva this morning.
The event is organised by the Petero Civoniceva foundation.
Various teams representing different companies were part of the event.
Also taking part in the Dash were members of the Vodafone Fiji Bati team preparing for the Tri-Nations this evening.
Petero Civoniceva says all the money that has been collected will go towards Diabetes Fiji in a bid to create more awareness on this killer disease and also help with the provision of insulin needles.
People only had to pay $1.00 to register for the Dash.
Diabetes accounts for the second‑highest rate of NCD‑related deaths in Fiji.
According to the Health Ministry, 1,869 amputations were done between 2014 and 2016.
835 were females and 1,034 were males who had lower limb amputations.
