The Ministry of Health has received 12,874 applications so far for the government’s free medicine scheme.
Spokesperson Sunil Chandra says 4,744 cards have been printed and sent to various divisions and health centers.
The national health card is being created with photo IDs.
Under the government’s free medicine scheme, individuals can get their medicine from government and private pharmacies.
Free medicine will only be issued to individuals by the pharmacist when a doctor’s prescription is presented from eligible individuals.
Meanwhile people earning $20,000 and below can register for this program and the forms can be obtained from health facilities around the country.
