These were the words of Acting Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu who was speaking to 206 police recruits at the opening of the Basic Recruits Course.
Tudravu has given the new recruits a strong reminder on their political stand.
He told the recruits that police officers have been warned that if they hear speculation and if officers talk politics then this is not the place for them.
He says the Police Academy talks of service to the members of the community and they are guided by the laws of the land.
He has told them to get the uniform and serve the people, but if they want to talk politics then they have to take the uniform off.
There are 53 females and 153 males in the Basic Recruits Course.
He has told the recruits to respect the Commissioner’s decision to give them a place in the institution and to not take the opportunity for granted.
