The Ministry of Local Government will review the organising of the Fiji Pageant for the future, to ensure that the event is done in an effective and timely manner.
This was highlighted by the Minister for Local Government, Housing and Community Development Premila Kumar while hosting the 12 winning towns and cities pageant queens to a morning tea.
She highlighted to the pageant Queens that the Fiji Pageant 2018 could not be held in time due to the 2018 elections, for Fiji to participate in this year’s Miss Pacific Island Pageant.
Kumar adds that towns and cities around the country have been organizing township festivals with the aim to create awareness on issues that are important to Fiji and all Fijians.
She says that the week-long festivity generates a lot of interest and has become an engine to encourage and support entrepreneurial skills in Fiji.
Kumar also urged the pageant queens to frequently meet with representatives of their municipal councils and discuss ways to improve their communities, bring issues and concerns raised by members of their community and suggest ways in which they could improve their town and city.
Kumar adds that the queens could also be the voice of the Municipal Councils in their community.
