Finance Minister and Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said the contribution of the Opposition members in parliament about the 2015 National Budget was full of contradictions and also showed a lack of knowledge.
During his right of reply in parliament yesterday, Sayed-Khaiyum highlighted that the members of the opposition even contradicted each other.
Sayed-Khaiyum said the opposition highlighted about import substitution not working yet they talked about creating jobs.
He further said that the opposition talked about 1 million arrivals for tourism but they failed to highlight the yields and its impacts.
He highlighted that they have recorded an average deficit of 1.5% unlike the previous government pre December 2006 who posted an average deficit of 4.3% during their tenure.
He added the total debt that the Bainimarama government has incurred is 1.14 billion dollars compared to 1.42 billion dollars incurred by the former government.
He said on average they borrowed $143 million annually compared to $238 million by the former SDL led government.
