SODELPA Leader Ro Teimumu Kepa and NFP President Tupou Draunidalo have said they are disturbed with government’s alleged attempt to limit next year’s parliament sitting days by 43 percent.
The Opposition said the parliamentary sitting schedule proposed by government cannot stand and they strongly oppose it.
They said government has a job to do and that is to govern for all the people.
It said the Opposition also has a job to do and that is to keep the government accountable through the parliamentary process, especially parliamentary sitting days.
The Opposition said such a proposal only goes to limit sitting time, question time, motion time and general parliamentary debate, which is a prerequisite for a democratic parliament.
The Leader of government in parliament Inia Seruiratu said the Opposition does not want to accept that government is in control and is doing its business.
Seruiratu said the issue is before the business committee and it will be discussed further.
He said the government is putting through this proposal to move the country forward.
