Opposition Leader Ro Teimumu Kepa has said in a statement that Acting Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho should be removed from office immediately following his response to a suicide bomb threat by a local man apparently directed against the Opposition.
Ro Teimumu says in an age when suicide bombing and terror attacks are a global threat, it is totally unacceptable and bizarre for the Acting Commissioner to say he would wait for a complaint from Ro Teimumu before investigating the threat.
The Opposition Leader says Qiliho’s response was tainted with hypocrisy.
Ro Teimumu says here they have a direct threat from someone who is a former teacher who is known to the Fiji First government and the Acting Commissioner.
She says obviously the man is a threat to the public and should be investigated immediately.
Ro Teimumu also questions whether police seriously expect them to believe that the ‘the evil plotters’ of a horrific crime, in which some 20 plus members of parliament would be killed would take the details of their crime into a public Internet café, communicate their heavily coded information with each other, only to then leave the scene with their email still open with all of their secret plans left for the world to see.
She says the Acting Commissioner comes out strongly against the plot even though people still don’t know if it is a genuine or staged one.
Acting Police Commissioner Qiliho says he will not make any comments on the issues raised by the Opposition Leader.
