There are only six government registered surveyors practicing in Fiji.
Speaking at the opening of the Fiji Institute of Surveyors Congress at the Mango Bay Resort in Sigatoka, Minister of Lands and Mineral Resources Mereseini Vuniwaqa says based on this statistics, government will be giving more focus on this area of profession.
Vuniwaqa highlighted how the government will address this issue.
Vuniwaqa says the contribution of the surveyors in the development of this country is important.
She says at present there are a total of 63 registered surveyors as of December last year which include those who have migrated and those who have passed on.
She adds that more than half of these surveyors are over 55 years.
