The Fiji National Provident Fund says only one former employee of FNPF has been charged in relation to the FNPF Cyclone Winston Scheme investigation.
When asked if the FNPF will take further action, Chief Operating Officer Jaoji Koroi says the Fund has also conducted its own internal investigation and is collaborating with police on this matter.
So far, four people have been charged.
42-year-old Lepania Lavavou is charged with one count of obtaining property by deception, a 30-yea- old former employee of FNPF Rachael Matakibau has been charged with four counts of obtaining property by deception while 32-year-old Amos Rogoyawa and 22-year-old Gabriel Ledua have both been charged with one count of conspiracy to obtain property by deception and two counts of forgery.
Meanwhile, FNPF had more than 1,900 unclaimed cheques last week and has now stopped distributing the cheques.
The Fund says it assumes that these funds are no longer needed and will reverse payments to members’ accounts.
Any future request will have to be made under normal withdrawal grounds.
