The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has withdrawn the charges faced by former Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority workers Vimal Krishna and Agesh Prakash.
They were charged with one count each of Abuse of Office.
It was earlier alleged that on the 29th of July 2009, Krishna directed Agesh Prakash to allow a loss in the amount of $808,436.09, which resulted in the pay out to Mahendra Chaudhry in the amount of $31,593.41.
The DPP’s Office stated that following a routine review of the case and representations made by the Defence Counsel, the DPP concluded there was insufficient evidence to proceed with the matter.
The charges have now been withdrawn by way of a Nolle Prosequi when the matter was called in the Suva Magistrates Court.
