Many young people do not appreciate as much as the elders that the ocean is not only a source of food but also a source of income.

These were the words of Miss Jean Cousteau Resort, Mikayla Wind who hopes to encourage young people to venture into marine studies and take charge of the care of our oceans at this year’s Vodafone Hidden Paradise Savusavu Carnival.

The 18 year old says that she was encouraged to use the Savusavu Carnival Platform to advocate on the care of our oceans while training as diving instructor intern at the Jean Cousteau Resort.

Tonight Miss Charity and Miss Savusavu will be crowned at 8pm and Miss Savusavu will then go on to represent the Hidden Paradise at the Miss Fiji Pageant in Lautoka which begins on the 24th of this month.
