The Nadi Weather Office says people can expect cloudy periods with some showers over the eastern parts and the interior of the larger islands today.
Rain is expected to become frequent for the whole of Fiji group from tomorrow, heavy at times with squally thunderstorms over most places.
A tropical cyclone alert is now in force for the Southern Lau group.
A strong wind warning is also in force for the Southern Lau.
Severe tropical cyclone Winston which is now a category 3 system was located about 810km southwest of Ono-i-Lau at midday today.
The cyclone is moving southeast at about 21km/hour.
The Nadi Weather Office had said earlier today that the cyclone is expected to turn northeast from tonight and move towards the Southern Lau group.
On this track, the cyclone may bring damaging gale force winds over the southern Lau group from early Tuesday.
Meanwhile, a flood warning that was previously in force for all low lying areas along Rakiraki including Rakiraki town has been cancelled.
