It has been made clear by the Health Ministry that nurses who engage in debate or discussion on Ministry issues on social media are liable for displinary action.
Minister Rosy Akbar made this clear at the Fiji Nursing Association Annual General Meeting saying that social media is a wonderful tool but it has to be used with care.
She has urged nurses not to respond to a post even if it is rude, insulting or simply wrong.
Akbar says if anyone breaches the Health Ministry’s social media policy they are liable for disciplinary measures.
Akbar says the sad reality is that nurses are all vulnerable to being the next talking point on Facebook which makes it all the more important to always to be aware of how they behave.
