Number of roads to be closed this afternoon to accommodate India's PM

A number of roads are expected to close this afternoon to accommodate the official visit by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi.

Police Chief Operations Officer, ACP Rusiate Tudravu said Queen Elizabeth Drive, Laucala Bay Road, Grantham Road and Kings Road along Suva to Nausori corridor will be closed from this hour to 5pm as the official delegation will be making its way to the Fiji National University.

He added that the Indian Prime Minister’s  motorcade will return to the Grand Pacific Hotel and the same route will be temporarily closed off between 6pm to 7pm.

ACP Tudravu said the road from Suva to the Nausori Airport will also be temporarily closed off between 8pm and 9pm as Prime Minister Modi is expected to depart Fiji from Nausori.

He said that police officers will be redirecting traffic during these times and roads will reopen soon after the delegation passes through.

People have been advised to take alternative routes during this time.
