Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama

‘Nothing is more important than securing the future of Fijian people’.

Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama made this comment while delivering his New Year’s message.

Bainimarama says that as a leader of the nation it is his responsibility to see that our environment, and seas are protected not only for the sake of every Fijian today but also for the generations to come.

He says if we cannot defend ourselves against the rising seas and if we cannot protect our marine environment then all our efforts to develop our nation will be jeopardized.

The Prime Minister adds we must work together to stop the world from degrading our oceans and seas.

He says his prayer for the New Year is especially with the families of 44 Fijians who were killed by TC Winston.

He says as always this is the time of celebration but these celebrations are tempered by the fact that many Fijians have once again lost their possessions and crops in the recent tropical depression.

Bainimarama says road building and maintenance including street lighting in rural and urban areas will remain a national priority.

He says they will continue to strengthen the education revolution, improving access to the medical services and reforming civil service to make it more efficient and professional and rewarding those who serve the public.

Bainimarama also says that they will continue to refine and strengthen the investment for climate change in Fiji.

He wishes every Fijian a happy New Year.
