Acting Prime Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has said people need to realize that Fiji is facing the effects of the El Nino and it has badly affected the North Western parts of Viti Levu.
Sayed-Khaiyum said he drove through the Kings Road just a few days ago where it is very dry.
He said he was in Kavanagasau a few weeks ago and people were drinking out of wells that had frogs in them.
Meanwhile, arrangements are being made by the Ministry of Agriculture to supply more water and cattle feed to the farmers in Tavua and Ba.
Principal Agriculture Officer West Vinesh Kumar said they are arranging to transport molasses blocks as feeds for the cattle to the most affected areas.
He also said that the Agricultural teams will look out for the green grass that grows near rivers and it will be harvested to supply to the farmers as cattle feed.
Kumar said they will continue carting water for cattle and farms.
Divisional Planning Officer Western Sitiveni Tavaga said they supplied 58,500 liters of water to 42 homes in Tavua last weekend.
Commissioner Northern Jovesa Vocea said they have asked the Water Authority of Fiji for more water tanks for Macuata, Cakaudrove and Bua.
He said recent reports compiled stated that the farmers are not badly affected.
