There is no timeframe as to when the wastewater pipes along the four miles bridge at Centrepoint will be removed and relocated.
The burst sewerage trunk line at the four miles bridge in 2014 saw the Water Authority of Fiji installing sewer pipes along the bridge and it was said then that it is a temporary measure.
It has been four years and sewer pipes continue to sit on top of the bridge, next to the pedestrian walking area posing threat of another burst if there’s a major accident.
When questioned, Authority’s Board Director, Kamal Gounder says he cannot give a timeframe adding that they are liaising with the Ministry of Local Government for some houses near the four miles bridge to be relocated.
We are currently trying to get a comment from the Local Government Ministry in relation to the relocation of some families in this area.
