Opposition Leader Ro Teimumu Kepa

None of the opposition members were present at the swearing-in ceremony of the country’s new President Jioji Konrote at Government House today.

Principal Administrative Officer for the Opposition Mick Beddoes confirms that the Opposition Leader Ro Teimumu Kepa and other opposition MPs were sent invites for the ceremony last week.

Beddoes says Ro Teimumu sent her apologies as they are tied up in a previously committed budget workshop for two days.

Meanwhile NFP President, Tupou Draunidalo has wished the new President, Jioji Konrote all the best for his new position.

When asked on why the three NFP members were not present at the swearing in ceremony, Draunidalo says they were busy with other important things.
