Good news for people living in rural areas as they will no longer have to worry about travelling through bumpy roads.
The Fiji Roads Authority together with the Ministry of Rural and Maritime, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources signed a three year agreement to develop and upgrade the roads in the rural areas in all the divisions in the country.
Fiji Roads Authority Chairman Dinesh Patel says they have already identified the roads.
Patel says works on some roads have already started.
He says the development will provide security of access and confidence to villagers to build their communities.
Meanwhile, the Minister for Finance Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says his Ministry will see that the funds given for the project are not wasted and people get what they deserve.
$50 million has been allocated for the project.
