Police and the National Fire Authority have started investigations into the Pacific Transport bus fire along Malaqereqere in Sigatoka earlier today.

Spokesperson, Ana Naisoro says the 52 passengers escaped unharmed.

Naisoro confirms that the fire started from the engine.

The bus was heading to Lautoka.

Firefighters that responded to the Pacific Transport bus fire, saw the engine compartment on fire when they arrived at the scene of the incident.

A statement by the National Fire Authority says upon arrival at 11.20am, the response team saw the fire on the rear side of the bus which was established to be the engine compartment.

Passengers rushed outside the bus with their belongings as smoke started to come out of the rear side of the bus.

The Sigatoka Fire Station responded to the fire at 11.14 this morning and saved the bus from being completely burnt.
