Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Rosy Akbar said they do not want any child to be subjected to violence, child abuse and be neglected.
As the Ministry will have a celebration in Suva to commemorate the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect campaign, Akbar stresses child protection and welfare is one of the key priorities for her Ministry.
She is urging families and communities to look after their children as they are the leaders of tomorrow.
Akbar added the Ministry through the National Coordinating Committee on Children will intensify efforts to ensure that all the children in Fiji are given the highest level of care and support they need.
The World Day for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect was first launched by Women’s World Summit Foundation in 2000.
The national theme for this year’s campaign is “Make Time to Guide a Child.”
The celebration will be held on this Saturday where children and parents along with the Ministry staff will take part in a street march from flea market to Sukuna Park in Suva.
