Nine schools in the Northern Division will now get internet access after the Office of the Prime Minister and Telecom Fiji Limited have signed an agreement in providing the schools with small satellite communication systems.
The agreement was signed by the Office of the Prime Minister Deputy Secretary, Sakeasi Waikere and TFL’S General Manager Samuela Vadei.
The cost of the project is $162,448.20.
Each satellite communication system is estimated to cost $18,049.80.
Schools which will benefit from this project are Saqani High School, Napuka Secondary School, Tunuloa Catholic School, Nakobo District School, Domonisavu Primary School, Kia District School, Kubulau District School and Namuka‑i‑cake Primary School.
The main objective of the project is to provide schools with easy access to Internet and telecommunications services.
The project was committed by the Prime Minister during his visit to the Northern Division in June this year.
