Night road work has started in Labasa town and members of the public are requested to take extra precaution when approaching the area.
Fiji Roads Authority contractors, Fulton Hogan Hiways says that work is being carried out between Nakoroutari Road junction and Labasa Bridge.
They have also confirmed that the work involves removing the old seal, pre‑hoeing, adding cement powder, compaction, and chip sealing before a new seal is laid on.
Fulton Hogan Hiways Stabilizing and Construction Crew Supervisor in the North, George Hughes is urging members of the public to follow directions and signs and also advises the public to expect delays and to factor extra time in their night travel if they are to drive through Labasa Town.
Fulton Hogan Hiways Construction Manager North, Scott Wilkinson, says that work is due to be completed next week.
Wilkonson says the crew are currently doing night shift repairing the main street of Labasa; when they have completed that around mid‑week next week they will move on to Namoli Road rehabilitation.
