A new duplex staff quarters at Government House was opened today.
While opening the staff quarters, President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau said it is vital for Government staff to have decent living quarters.
Ratu Nailatikau said the staff at Government House serve the top people visiting Fiji and they are expected to be given the best service.
Ratu Nailatikau also said the quarters was built at a time when a Governor from Hong Kong came to serve in Fiji and resided at the quarters.
He added since then, the quarters had not been renovated and were used over the years by various staff and families.
The staff duplex quarters took four months to build by a local firm and cost $315,000.
