About 15 women of Kalabu settlement will now be able to support their families as they now have two sewing machines and a new resource center.
During the opening of $5,000 worth Nakaya Women’s Centre yesterday, Social Welfare, Women and Poverty Alleviation Minister, Dr. Jiko Luveni said that the women will be able to do their own sewing at the Resource Centre.
She said this will enable them to generate income and improve their financial status.
She also said that this is an opportunity for women to move towards management and leadership.
Dr. Luveni added that women used to gather at different houses before but now they have their own shelter.
She also added that there are already 90 resource centres in Fiji and 30 more will be built by the end of this year.
