Mothers in the province of Nadroga/Navosa will now have a proper maternity unit after the new maternity and child care unit at the Sigatoka Hospital was opened yesterday.
While speaking at the event, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama said previous year’s mothers and nurses have been finding it hard to work in the old maternity unit.
Bainimarama added the opening of the new extension building continues to show the government’s commitment to improve the standard of health care in the country.
The new maternity unit is the public private partnership with the government of Fiji, Fijian Hotel Association and the Board of Visitors at the Sigatoka Hospital with the cost of $2.6 million.
