People can now take advantage of enhanced services being offered by the refurbished $60,000 Sigatoka Hospital laboratory.
While opening the new laboratory, Assistant Minister for Health Alex O’ Connor says the refurbishment includes the establishment of a Tuberculosis microscopy laboratory.
O’Connor says the people of Nadroga and Navosa will no longer need to travel to Lautoka or Suva to be diagnosed with Tuberculosis.
He says this will improve the accessibility of Tuberculosis diagnosis simply increasing the reachout of the health care services to even to those from rural and remote communities.
O’Connor says this would limit the transmission of the disease, save patient time and money and enable doctors and nurses to efficiently carry out the diagnostic processes.
