People living in the Northern division who need dialysis treatment will now no longer have to travel to Suva as a new dialysis center was opened in Labasa yesterday.
The President of Friendly North Carnival, Vincent Sahayam said this was made possible through donations and the proceeds of last year’s Friendly North Carnival.
Sahayam said $90,000 has been spent on the center and their first patient from Labasa received four hour dialysis treatment yesterday.
The Vodafone Friendly North Carnival starts this weekend with the theme “Our Environment Our Future”.
Sahayam said they are working closely with the Labasa and Savusavu Town Councils and are planning to build a recreational park with the proceeds of this year’s carnival.
Ten Queen Contestants, six King Contestants and three Ladies Contestants will take part in the carnival which starts this Saturday.
