New crossing to benefit residents of Qaliwalu settlement

More than 500 people residing in Qaliwalu settlement and nearby rural areas outside Lautoka will now have access to services after the upgrading and construction of new farm roads and rural crossings.
59-year-old, Vinod Kumar of Qaliwalu Settlement recalls the difficulties faced by him and the more than 500 people that used to cross a river to go to town to access basic services.
Kumar says they could not access the other side of the river during heavy rain because of flooding in the past.
Kumar says they have waited for long and finally the government has recognised their plight.
