Good news for the people of Fiji as the New Tengy Cement Factory was opened in Veisari today creating about 15 local jobs.
The development was made possible through a 50 million US dollar investment.
Speaking at the opening ceremony earlier today Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama said the new cement factory will address the shortage of cement in Fiji and will also reduce the cost of building a home and any other construction.
Bainimarama added that this is also a good news for the economy of Fiji.
Bainimarama stated that despite manufacturing contributing 15 percent to our GDP and employing 30,000 people, it has not come close to reaching its full capacity.
He said that the current government has made consistency and transparency top priorities to create secure environment for investors and incentive that is in place for investors today will still be there in the future.
