Abuse of Women and Domestic Violence and Child Protection is also covered in the new Code of Conduct for the Methodist Church in Fiji after it was passed during the Annual Conference today.
The code of conduct on this issue states that church leaders shall challenge any words and actions that perpetrate violence against women and children.
It also states that church leaders shall encourage victims of domestic violence to report the abuse and hold perpetrators accountable for their actions.
Secretary General Reverend Dr Epineri Vakadewavosa said the Code of Conduct provides clear guidelines to the behaviour expected of church leaders and for the protection and wellbeing of those they serve.
Vakadewavosa said any person may report an alleged breach of the Code of Conduct to the Divisional Superintendent or to the Head office.
The reviewed and revised Methodist Church constitution was also passed today.
Vakadewavosa said the review of the whole constitution helps organise the Church in Fiji as it moves onto the next 50 years.
He said it also help the Church in trying to meet the standard of the call of the church in this modern age.
The Code of Conduct and the Revised Constitution will be implemented from January 2016.
