Navatukia village in Naitasiri has declared it's commitment to stop violence against women and children.
This follows the implementation of the Zero Tolerance Free Community Campaign which was headed by the Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation.
The Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Rosy Akbar says the campaign was done to help reduce the crime levels in communities and villages.
Akbar says that the Government is committed to creating more awareness amongst communities and thus the declaration of zero tolerance violence free communities in Fiji.
She adds that the community has undergone ten phases of awareness programs, to prepare them to take a pledge to protect it's women and children from all forms of abuse and violence.
The president of Navatukia Women's Club, Asena Kenawai, says that violence free campaign has given them a new beginning in life.
Meanwhile the Indonesian delegation, led by the Minister of Women Empowerment and Children Protection, Prof. Dr. Yohana Susana Yembise and her team also witnessed the official declaration ceremony.
