More than 200 families of naval officers from around the country gathered today in Walu Bay, Suva to mark the 40th anniversary celebrations of the Fiji Naval Forces.
While speaking at the anniversary, Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama who is the former Fiji Navy Commander shared some old memories with his former colleagues.
Bainimarama has also acknowledged the growth and the productiveness of the institution.
He has urged naval officers to uplift their skills and to understand their roles and responsibilities.
Meanwhile, Nikita Brown who is the granddaughter of the first Fiji Navy Commander, the late Stanley Brown was also present during the celebrations.
Nikita Brown says she would have loved to see her grandfather at the celebrations today.
