The Minister for Defence and National Security, Timoci Natuva has called on the Fiji Police Force to improve its service delivery.
Speaking at the Fiji Police Force Remembrance Day, Natuva said it is a disturbing reality to hear of the general public’s dissatisfying perception towards the service of the Police.
Natuva said the Fiji Police Force has been continuously bombarded by public scrutiny and criticism and Police officers should keep this criticism at bay and use it to their advantage.
The Minister said media talk, talkback shows and poll reports show of overwhelming discontent in the failure of the Police to have good customer service, its urgency to cases and its handover processes.
He added that numerous cases are either lost or not dealt with due to improper or ignorant handling.
Natuva then said that the Police may need to carry out an audit to determine what is the right standard of service which is required by the public.
