The nanny in the case of a 32-year-old man charged with the rape of his 4-year-old step-daughter told the court today that she did not believe that the victim was raped by her step-father.

She told the court that on the morning of March 17th this year, when she had gone to the victim’s house the victim had told her that her step-father had raped her.

The nanny says that for the past two years that she has been working as the victim’s nanny she had not heard the victim say those words before.

Defence counsel Aseri Vakaloloma asked the nanny if she believed what the victim had told her.

She said that she had taken the victim to the hospital two weeks after the alleged incident where she was informed by the doctor that nothing had happened to the victim and that she was fine.

The nanny further told the court that after returning home from the hospital she was informed via a text message by the mother of the victim to not return to work until the case was over.

The accused is charged with two counts of rape that is alleged to have occurred on March 16th this year.

The matter is being heard before Justice Riyaz Hamza.
